Michael co-leads JLL’s National Retail Tenant Services Group, a specialty service practice focused on expanding the firm’s retail tenant representation capabilities. In his role he targets premium and high-end retailers who are occupying space in high street, downtown, resort and dense urban retail markets across the United States. He advises on the best strategy and adding value to each client’s retail real estate decisions. JLL’s Retail MVP and Top Producer in 2014, and 2015, he has also been a Top Gun each year while at JLL.

He has been in the retail real estate business for more than 42 years specializing in urban retail throughout North America and Europe. Prior to joining JLL, Mr. Hirschfeld was the co-owner of Surge Retail International, which he co-founded with Steve Ferris. His clients have included national retailers such as All Saints, Barney’s, Ben Sherman, Brioni, Brookstone, Diesel, Lego, Lindt Chocolate, Puma, and Quiksilver. He was previously with the Trammell Crow Company, where he ran the Urban & Specialty Retail Real Estate division. He also developed and ran the National Retail Division of Equis, the Chicago-based tenant representation firm. He started his real estate career as the founding partner and then CEO of Garrick-Aug Associates.
